Digital camera is found nowadays, in one way or another, in almost every home. Despite wide usage of digital photography, the long travel with digital camera is still as more pretentious as usage of classic film camera. This travel photo guide is created for photographers who want to use new digital technologies of digital photography on longer trips. It explains how to prepare yourself on a trip, which equipment should be used and how to avoid photographic troubles on our way.

The site provides almost all of pictures I shot on my journey over Argentina and Chile in year 2005. The challenge of journey was the usage of digital camera with as less as possible equipment for digital photography. Fantastic journey over Argentina and Chile happily finished with 3700 photos of landscapes, cacti and different places, which I am surely going to visit once again.

The purpose of journey over Argentina, Cordilleras and Chile was the photographing the cacti in nature. The fantastic landscapes of Cordilleras and troubleshooting of difficulties at shooting in arduous circumstances in desert like Atacama were the height of my career of digital photography. Still, the digital photography of cacti in nature didn't disappoint me, so the site provides over 2000 carefully taken pictures of cacti.

For journey over unknown world some tips are always welcome. Argentina, Chile and most of other Latin American countries are safe for travelers, and the natives are very helpful and pleasant. Still, the travel with digital camera should be planned carefully. The journey over Argentina and Chile is described in greater detail, with some additional maps and pictures of places we visited.

The pages provide lot of tips for digital photography which is nowadays still difficult to use for longer trips. The good view over Argentinean and Chilean deserts is possible only with advanced knowledge of avoiding the troubles with strong light and sharp contrasts in the nature where can the pictures of cacti become a great disappointment. Digital photography of cacti in their environment has some advantages.

The equipment for digital photography of deserts and other difficult environmens should be chosen carefully. Digital photography is now developed enough to choose and use the digital camera on long journey. This site describes the advantages and imperfections of different parts of equipment for digital photography in nature. The tools I used for travel thru Argentina and Chile is described on more pages of this site.

The main purpose of my journey thru Argentina and Chile was to take the pictures of cacti in nature with great help of digital technology. However, the pictures of lanscapes of Argentina, Chile and other places are senseless without descriptions of environment and plant life of cacti and other arid plants we photographed in nature. All of cacti species are carefully described for every field separately.
