Border crossing

For photographer, an airport bustle is very interesting, but taking a shots doesn't mean good response of airport policemen and clerks. In general, taking a photos of these persons is more a call for troubles as looking for good theme.

On the plane you can freely photograph thru window, of course if you are so lucky to have a seat near the window. If you came on airport to confirm the ticket enough early, you can ask the clerk for the seat at the window. Kindness makes miracles.

Thru plane windows wonderful pictures can arise even between you and infinite space outside is a double sheet of glass. Instead of hunting good scenes in last moment, first find out where the glass is not scratched, dewy or dirty. Try to make a shots through clean part of glass and avoid the reflections with inclining the lens to glass surface. Avoid opposite or quite back coming rays. Put the lens near window glass as near as possible but keep a distance with supporting the edge of lens to the glass with little finger.

Even the plane is not in good position, count on tilting of a plane at course changes. At longer flight you can count on the least of one or two sun risings.

Even you will become panic in jumble of corridors, signs and callings, pull yourself together and in a case of not knowing your exit, ask the first airport clerk for a way. Before you'll be in a plane, you have to pass thru few checkups. Who often travel, knows how to behave at baggage and personal supervision. About what to put in luggage and what to have in your personal luggage is better to decide before passing thru. Tools, pincers, tongs, pocket knife, tripod and any of disputable stuff is better to put in your transport luggage as to quarrel with customs men. Your photographic equipment except tripod can go with you on a plane. If you like to avoid personal checking, take off all of metal parts from you and put them on checking device. Shoes, belt, purse, watch, all of metal parts can be a reason you are rejected back to another more precisely check.

Through all of checkups I managed to pass without any returns and personal checks, but I took also my shoes with brass rings off. Passengers with nailed shoes have been returned to accurate examination, Argentineans even ordered a personal check immediately if checking machine started to beep. The piece of steel I am carrying over fifteen years in my left hand, the appliance didn't perceive.
